It really depends on the owner. Some owners have the financial resources to hire a crew or at least a captain, to take the boat home. Quite a few boats have a completly different crew for the return delivery. Most owner's realize that it is very difficult to get people to take up 2 1/2 to 3 weeks vacation to do a round-trip. I recall one year when I was also doing the return delivery but the boat was not departing the Dockyard until the first week in July, I flew home, worked a week, and then flew back for the return delivery. The roundtrip airfare was actually cheaper that a one way. The more time you can commit, the better your chances of getting a ride. If you have a skill set that is in demand for a particular boat, you have a bit more negotiating leverage.
